  • Co-Teacher Training: Welcome to Math in Focus

    Who Attends? Required for all New co-teachers of an incoming 1st - 5th Grader (Kindergarten Math in Focus is unique and requires less upfront training; this training focuses on 1st - 5th)

    Description: The Math in Focus curriculum has a few unique characteristics, particularly strategies for problem solving. In this training, we’ll provide an overview for this curriculum, and some practical help for teaching Math in Focus at home.

  • Lunch for Workshop Attendees

    Who attends? New Kindergarten through Fifth grade co-teachers who are coming to either Math in Focus or Spell to Write and Read Training.

    We will plan for one co-teacher per expected family. Please RSVP to annette.kemp@provprep.org if you are bringing an additional co-teacher or do not plan to come to lunch.

  • Co-Teacher Training: Welcome to Spell to Write and Read

    Who attends? Required for co-teachers new to K - 4th grades

    Description: Spell to Write and Read is an approach to spelling, reading, and writing that is based on the phonograms of the English language. In this seminar, we provide an introduction to co-teaching this effective program.

    Please bring your Spell to Write and Read textbooks, rule cards, and phonogram cards.

  • Lower School (PK-4th) Student Meet the Teacher

    Who attends: ALL (new and returning) PreK through 4th grade students and co-teachers who wish to meet their teachers.

  • House Howdy

    Who attends? ALL (new and returning) students grades 5th-12th.

    Description: This is an official “Welcome to Providence!” for our upper school students. New Providence students will find out which house they will be in while at Providence, and spend some time getting to know other students. Snacks provided.

  • Fifth Grade Parent Orientation

    Who attends? ALL 5th grade co-teachers and parents.

    This orientation will help parents understand the differences between Lower School and Upper School and how to help prepare their students for this transition. We will break to watch as students are welcomed into their houses during the House Howdy.

  • New Co-Teacher Assembly and Co-Teacher Training Workshops for All

    Who attends? All NEW co-teachers AND highly recommended for returning co-teachers.

    Description: At this seminar, we will cover a lot of practical things you’ll need to know as a new co-teacher and parent (like retrieving lesson plans, upper school grading, etc), and we will offer seminars on various points of co-teaching.
    NEW FOR 2018: For new AND returning co-teachers, we are scheduling various workshops and seminars, based on constructive co-teacher feedback that we’ve received.
    Dinner will be provided.

  • Class and Grammar School (PK-6th) Grade Level Training with Teachers

    Who attends? ALL (new and returning) co-teachers of Pre-K through 6th Grades

    Description: This day is mostly devoted to meeting and learning from grade level teachers. This is also an opportunity for co-teachers to meet fellow co-teachers.
    If you only have one grammar school student, you will not need to be present for the entire time, but rather about half of this time.
    Dinner will be provided.

  • Logic/Rhetoric School Overview

    Who attends? All students and co-teachers (new and returning) in 7th - 12th grades

    Description: 7th - 12th Grade students and their parents will learn about their classes by going through their course schedule, taking about 25 minutes in each class.

  • Additional Evening Session For Families with 3+ Students

    August 16, 2018 | 6:15 pm8:35 pm

    Where: room 247 (room 247">Map)

    Who attends? Any co-teachers who are schooling 3 or more Grammar School students.
    Description: Light supper will be provided as you network and trade tips with other co-teachers. Then, co-teachers will move into grade level sessions.
