Enjoy Your Break! (Then, enjoy school on November 27th.)

We are all looking forward to a nice long break from studies next week. As you look over your grade level lesson plan, you’ll notice that we do not have lessons for November 20-25th. We do, however, end our current weekly plan with lessons scheduled for Monday, November 27th. Some families with PreK-4th graders find it helpful to go ahead and do parts of that day’s lesson on the Friday before break to maintain continuity and lighten the first home day after break. This can be helpful to families.  If you do this, please take a few minutes on the 27th to review basic concepts so students are prepared for class on the 28th.

Crosswalk Chat

Overall, Operation Student Crosswalk Safety is going well. So far all students have gotten to school and back home again without injury, so that’s a plus! A big Providence “Thank you” to Mr. Scott and Mrs. Cummins for their diligence and attention to safety in the crosswalk! However, we would like to present a few observations:

  • School zone: 5th Ave. and Pearl St. are designated school zones so be sure to drive slowly and please no cell phone use.
  • If you would like to drop or pick up your student without parking, please pull all the way forward to the striped loading zone at 5th and Pearl.
  • Cones are set out to improve congestion thereby improving visibility of our little ones loading into and out of cars. Please do not remove them in order to park. If you have a handicap placard or license plate, flash your lights at our crossing guard and he/she will remove a cone to allow you access to a  handicapped space.
  • Students may play in the grassy area after school, but we ask that they: be supervised by a parent, stay within the grassy area bordered by the sidewalks (not near the flagpole or in the parking spaces), do not climb on the metal railings, and be respectful of each other and the adults nearby.

You’re Doing It!

Remember when you had a vision of the parent you wanted to be – involved with your child’s education, spending time together, sharing what you know, and learning interesting things? You are doing it! You are being that person! Good for you and good for your child!

It may or may not be as lovely as you thought, but the lovely moments come and they are truly beautiful when they do.

3rd Grade Long Division Workshop for Co-teachers and Students is tomorrow

This workshop is designed to help co-teachers and their 3rd graders learn the basics of long division together. This is a great opportunity to make sure you are “teaching like the teacher” so your child benefits from consistency of using the same vocabulary and methods at both school and home.  We’ll meet in room 245 at 3:05 p.m.  Please bring a quiet activity for your little ones.

1st Grade Making Ten Math Workshop for Co-teachers and Students November 16th

We’ll meet at 3:05 in students’ classrooms where co-teachers and students will be able to learn together. Please bring a quiet activity for your little ones. Hope to see you there!
