Conferences are a great time for parents and teachers to renew strategic partnerships to help students thrive academically. Constructive feedback from both parties enriches the school experience for our students. Watch next week’s lamp-post for sign up sheets for each teacher. Appointments last around 20 minutes and are typically held after school until around 5:30 pm each day.
School Pictures Next Week
We are grateful to have such beautiful school pictures taken by Solas Gallery each year. This year our pictures will be taken on three days next week.
Tuesday, Sep. 26th: Grades PK – 2
Thursday, Sep. 28th: 3rd – 8th and whole school pic
Friday, Sep. 29th: 9th – 12th
Our whole school picture is taken during chapel, so make sure you are on time so we can see your smiling face!
Thank you for the Fun Lunch!
We appreciate all of the volunteers who served our students and faculty last Thursday. Everything went smoothly and the students had a great time enjoying one of their favorite lunches.
Viewing Grades for Upper School
PreK-1st Grade Friendship Tea is this Thursday
We are eagerly anticipating a fun time of fellowship with friends! Parents, here is the note that was sent home if you want to double-check any details.
We are still in need of some tea things and volunteers to serve. If you are bringing items for us to use, please bring items marked with your name to the office or the tub in the four way foyer on Tuesday. If you are bringing food, please bring it to the gym and put it on the wire racks near the kitchen on Thursday morning. Items should be ready for pick up on Thursday after the Friendship tea. Thank you!
Math in Focus Bar Model Training tomorrow
In this training for every 2nd grade co-teacher and all co-teachers new to teaching Math in Focus in grades 2-4, Miranda Lehmann, our Math in Focus chair will give you some timely help as your students approach chapters on bar-modeling in the following weeks. Meet in the small chapel from 8:20-9:30 am.
SWR Kindergarten Refresher Sept. 21st
Kindergarten co-teachers will meet with Sarah Billman Thursday, September 21st at 8:20 a.m. in the small chapel and review what you’ll need to know to help your Kindergartener be successful with his first spelling words.
Led by our First Grade teachers in their classrooms after school, co-teachers and students will explore together how to think to solve algebraic-style problems. Please bring a quiet activity for siblings. If your child normally attends after school recess, we will keep him there unless you come to pick him up to participate with you in the workshop.
Wednesday, October 11 is PSAT Day
Juniors will be taking the real PSAT at Central Texas Christian School. This the official test for 11th graders, and the qualifying test for National Merit.
Sophomores will be taking the required PSAT unofficial practice test at Providence. We will score the test together so that you can gain some instant feedback.
10th-11th graders will not have a full day of homework to make room for this test (unofficial or not).
Check out the official SAT (PSAT) test prep site on Khan Academy: https://www.khanacademy.org/sat
