Meet the Grammar School Faculty

Sarah Billman

Sarah Billman

Kindergarten

Sarah Billman is married to Bret, and they have two sweet children, Maddox and Olivia. She enjoys cooking, gardening, reading and spending quality time with friends and family. Sarah completed her bachelors degree in Child and Family Development with a minor in Psychology at Stephen F. Austin State University. Her career has centered around children, first as a case manager and foster home developer, then as a teacher (first pre-school then Kindergarten), and most recently as her church's school-age children's ministry coordinator. Mrs. Billman says, "I love teaching Kindergarten because the kids are filled with wonder and amazement as they explore and discover new things about the world around them. Teaching a child to read is a priceless experience and one of the biggest privileges a teacher can have. I'm excited to share the joys of educating these Kindergartners with the people who care most about them...their parents!"

Molly Bohmfalk

Molly Bohmfalk

Kindergarten

Molly Bohmfalk and her husband Matt have two children, Abby and Josiah, who both attend Providence. Molly is a graduate of Trinity University with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and UT Southwestern Medical Center with a Master of Physical Therapy degree. She worked as a physical therapist for five years before staying at home when her daughter was born. She is looking forward to the privilege of sharing the joy of learning with her students. Molly and her family attend Temple Bible Church. She enjoys reading, roller coasters, and the great outdoors.

Bonnie Bonstead

Bonnie Bonstead

First Grade

Bonnie Bonstead is a graduate of The University of Mary Hardin Baylor with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She is married to Eric, and they have three children: Luke, Claire, and Lilly. She taught kindergarten and first grade for seven years before staying home with her children. She loves cooking, running, and spending time with her friends and family. Bonnie loves teaching children and is excited for the privilege to work with the students and parents of Providence. Bonnie and her family worship at Temple Bible Church.

Victoria Colyer

Victoria Colyer

First Grade

Victoria Colyer was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She is a graduate of Liberty University, earning her masters in Religion & Global Studies. Victoria earned her undergraduate degrees from the Baptist University of the Americas. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Biblical & Theological and an AA in Cross-Cultural Studies. Victoria has experience working with children in BISD and KISD. She is married to Brian Colyer and they have one daughter, Samantha. Currently, SFC Colyer is serving his fifth tour for the US Army overseas. Together, they serve in many areas of ministry at their local church and own their own business. They enjoy hiking with their dog Gizmo. Victoria‘s hobbies are geocaching, writing, reading, archery, cooking, and baking. She feels blessed to be a part of our Providence community.

Beth Gardner

Beth Gardner

Beth Gardner, owner of Heart of Texas Gymnastics located in Temple, Texas since 1999 fell in love with the sport of gymnastics as a recreational gymnast from the age of 3 years old. She began teaching PE at Providence in 2016. She has an extensive background specializing in preschool, recreational and special needs gymnastics. Beth has been a national, international and private clinician since 1997. She has served as a National Instructor for USA Gymnastics, presenting at state, regional and national congresses, and served as one of the National Instructors for USA Gymnastics Kinder Accreditation for Teachers (KAT,) USA Gymnastics Movement Development and Lesson Plan Development (MELPD,) and currently serves as a National Instructor for the USA Gymnastics Preschool Fundamentals, Hands-on Training and the USA Gymnastics Hands-on Training for School-Aged courses for preschool and recreational gymnastics, the USA Gymnastics Brain and Body course, and the USA Gymnastics M200 Men’s Course. Her background also includes volunteering and coaching children and adults with special needs within her program as well as through Special Olympics, Discover Fitness Foundation and other private organizations. Her newest passion is for researching ways to address special needs in the gymnastics environment and utilizing gymnastics to affect positive changes for those with disabilities. She has three children, Robert, Daniel and Melissa and she is a 1983 graduate of Texas
A&M University.

Mitch Hedderly

Mitch Hedderly

P.E.

Mitch Hedderly graduated from UT Arlington in 2002 with a Bachelors of Arts in German. Mitch's post-undergraduate work involved some flying of Army helicopters in one of the more dusty parts of the world (Iraq), while his adoring wife, Mandy, always awaited his returns with tremendous longing. Mitch left active duty in 2009 to pursue a career in education. He acquired a Texas general teaching certification for pre-K through 6th, and later certified as a 6th through 12th German teacher. Mitch left a 5th grade teaching position with BISD in 2012 to focus more on their children's homeschooling. He and Mandy are proud parents to two boys (Kyler and Karsten) and two girls (Kylie Anne and Kiersten) and are both avid "CrossFitters." Shortly after Mitch started at Providence as the P.E. teacher, he branched into Latin and logic instruction and founded the school's CrossFit affiliated kids' program for logic/rhetoric students.

Tasha Heisch

Third Grade

Tasha Heisch is honored to be part of the Providence faculty. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Baylor University, she taught for 4 years before her children were born. After that, she stayed busy by fulfilling her call to educate her children at home. Now she considers it a privilege and a blessing to partner with parents in educating their children through Providence. Tasha is married to her husband, Rory, and they have 3 children. You can usually find them working on their farm, where they raise goats, chickens, and honeybees. They worship at Temple Bible Church.

Margaret Kiesle

Fourth Grade Language Arts

Margaret Kiesle began her teaching career at the age of two when her sister was born! From those nascent experiences she progressed to  “playing school” in her backyard with her siblings and neighbors. Naturally it followed for Margaret to study education at Indiana University, where she obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education. Although Margaret taught in public schools for three years, the delight of her career was home educating her four children through high school. Once her children had graduated, Margaret was eager for new educational opportunities and began teaching Fourth Grade and Latin A during the inaugural year of Providence. Her passion is to introduce, ignite, and inspire students with the magnificence of God as revealed in the awesome gift of language in the Bible, His written Word, and in the person of Jesus Christ, the living Word. Margaret joyfully praises God for creating her to teach and for allowing her to spend her entire life doing what she loves!

Jennifer Madrid

Fourth Grade History

Jennifer Madrid has a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Generic Special Education from Angelo State University. She formerly taught students with learning differences at the Elementary level in Killeen ISD and Temple ISD for 4 years and taught 4th grade for a year at a private Christian school before homeschooling her own children for 7 years prior to joining the Providence family. As a Providence teacher, she has taught history in 1st, 3rd, and 4th grade. She especially enjoys teaching history with the aim of instilling a love of learning about how God is weaving “His story” in the history of mankind. She shares in the wonder and excitement of her students as they make connections, learn valuable lessons, and begin to recognize, appreciate, and participate in the beauty, goodness, and truth we find as we study the history of God’s world, and as we ourselves become a part of His epic story. Outside of teaching, she enjoys time with her children, Abby (a Providence alumnus), Luke, and Mia (both current Providence students), as well as reading and ministry on behalf of preborn children and their parents.

Christy Porterfield

Fourth Grade Math and Science

Christy Porterfield is married to her best friend, Russell. They have been blessed with two adventurous boys, Caleb and Joshua. She is a graduate of the University of Mary Hardin Baylor with a BA degree in Elementary Education specializing in reading. She has always had a love for teaching and grew up teaching her brother and sister. She taught in the public school for 4 years. Upon the arrival of her firstborn, she was blessed to at stay home where the Lord gave her an excitement for homeschooling. She loves to come alongside co-teachers and their children and rejoice in watching the Lord grow them in character, their love for learning, and their realization of how the Lord provides for them. She enjoys reading, gardening, and exploring God's beautiful creation with her family.

Jen Riddle

Art

Jen Riddle was born and raised in Beaumont, TX. After graduating from Texas A&M University with a BBA in Marketing, she served as a missionary in Thailand for three years. She is married to her best friend, Jake, who works at The Austin Stone Community Church. Jen loves being a teacher at Providence where she is able to help students see that Jesus Christ is at the center of all things. Her ambition is aimed at opening the eyes of her students to behold the wonder of Christ through the beauty of art. When Jen is not teaching, you can find her enjoying calligraphy, watercolor painting, baking, gardening, and traveling with her husband and Goldendoodle Murphy.

Daena Rowe

Daena Rowe

Third Grade

Daena Rowe is married to Daniel and they have two children, Norah and Adam, who both attend Providence. Daena graduated from The University of Mary Hardin- Baylor in 2008 with a degree in music education. Since then she has taught music in both public schools and here at Providence. She also teaches piano lessons in her home. The Rowes attend Grace Salado Church and in their spare time they enjoy watching the Astros.

Noelle Ruzicka

Noelle Ruzicka

First Grade

Mrs. Ruzicka received her Master’s of Theology with a concentration in Missions from George W. Truett Seminary at Baylor University and her Bachelor’s in Education from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor. After teaching for 11 years, in a mix of classical and public education, Noelle joined the staff of First Baptist Church in Belton as the Curriculum Administrator for Church Weekday Ministry and the Kingdom Kids Director, where she continues to serve in the children’s education department. She loves teaching first grade and finds it rewarding to see the incredible accomplishments of children learning to read and gaining the foundation skills of math. She is married to Micah, and they are blessed with two boys, Jayson and Jude. They enjoy as a family going to the lake, hiking trails, playing tennis and swimming. Noelle is excited to begin her journey this year at Providence. As a mother and teacher, she looks forward to the blessed opportunity of partnering with parents to develop the spiritual and academic growth in precious minds.

Penny Seiler

Penny Seiler

Second Grade

Penny Seiler has worked in the field of education for thirty years. After retiring from the Belton School System, she joined the Providence team where she is currently teaching second grade. Penny and her husband Paul have been blessed with two sons, Corey and Taylor. Both are grown and pursuing careers in construction science and law. They also have a beautiful daughter-in- law, Kori, who also works in the field of elementary education. Penny and Paul worship at Temple Bible Church.

Kathryn Smith

Kathryn Smith

Second Grade

Kathryn Smith has taught 2nd Grade at Providence since 2013. She has a passion for children, and she feels blessed to be a part of this community and school.  A graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, Kathryn received a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. God has gifted her with teaching skills that she has used in many ways over the years.  Her teaching experiences include public school, home school, and serving as Children's Minister at a local church. Kathryn is excited about the opportunity to work alongside parents in supporting them in their role as educator, both academically and spiritually. Kathryn and her husband, Glen, and their three daughters, served as medical missionaries in Kenya, East Africa during the years the children were growing up. Glen and Kathryn worship together at First Baptist Church in Belton.

Shari Smitherman

Shari Smitherman

Kindergarten

Shari Smitherman is a graduate of the University of Mary Hardin Baylor with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She grew up in Baytown but has been in Central Texas for 35 years. She has been a Gifted and Talented and Dyslexia Coordinator and taught regular education in kindergarten thru 4th grade at Belton ISD, Cameron ISD, and Rogers ISD for the past 33 years. She is excited about the opportunity to teach at Providence. She loves teaching kindergarten because the students are excited about learning, and teaching a child to read is such a joy. Shari and her husband, Joe, have 3 wonderful children, Joshua,26, Jacob,23, and Peyton Grace,15. They also have a sweet daughter-in-law, Jesika, who is a 4th grade teacher. Joshua and Jesika are expecting their first son in May 2021. Shari and her family worship together at Vista Community Church.

Tonita Stovall

Pre-K

Tonita Stovall is certified to teach secondary family and consumer sciences, and early childhood education. She has fifteen years experience working in a variety of early childhood development and education occupations, and eleven years experience teaching at a private Christian school prior to joining the faculty at Providence in the fall of 2011. Tonita is married to Daniel Stovall and has three adult children. Her two sons are married, so she has two daughters-in-law. Her family members are active at the Northside Church of Christ where Daniel serves as an elder. Tonita enjoys reading, fitness walking and baking. She considers it an honor and blessing to be teaching PreK at Providence.

Paula Wilson

Dyslexia Therapist

Paula Wilson is a Certified Academic Language Therapist and a Licensed Dyslexia Therapist with 34 years of experience in the public school setting with most of those years teaching reading and practicing dyslexia therapy in Temple ISD. She is currently retired; however, she is continuing her love of teaching by practicing private dyslexia therapy in Temple. When she isn’t teaching, she spends time playing tennis and golf and enjoying her many hobbies. She is married to Bill Wilson, they have four children and five grandchildren. They are members of Grace Presbyterian Church.

Rebecca Cagle

Fifth and Sixth Grade History and Science

Rebecca Cagle has been married to her best friend Kevin for 27 years. They have two sons, Luke and Philip. Rebecca graduated from Belton High, and then attended UMHB where she received her Elementary Education degree. She taught Kindergarten at Miller Heights in Belton for 6 years. She resigned from Miller Heights to stay at home with her sons, homeschooling them until they were in the 5th & 6th grades. She enjoys reading (especially history & Bible related), cooking, and hanging out with family. They worship at Temple Bible Church where they have worked with the youth and served overseas on short-term missions.

Fifth Grade Math and Science

Jennifer grew up in a small west Texas town where she learned to drive a tractor before she drove a car. She graduated from Angelo State University with a BA in business management. It was there that she met her amazing husband of 14 years. They have 2 boys that keep them busy, and they wouldn’t want it any other way! She worked for Citibank as a financial analyst for 3 years before she stayed home to raise her boys. She began to homeschool in 2015 and then in 2018 made the transition to Providence. She joined the amazing staff as an instructional aide in 2019, and began teaching Sixth Grade in Fall of 2020. She is so glad to be part of the Providence family!

Courtney Robinson

Courtney Robinson

Fifth Grade English

Courtney Robinson has a degree in English and Psychology from Texas A&M University as well as a Master's Degree in Christian Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary. She spent nine years homeschooling her own children and five teaching grammar and composition in a local homeschool group before coming to Providence.  She's never met a sentence she didn't want to diagram, and she loves teaching poetry to young people.  She and her husband, Heath, have three sons and a daughter. They love seeing Christ's lordship over all things and worshiping with their brothers and sisters in Christ at Redeemer PCA.

Amy Rognlie

Sixth Grade English

Amy Rognlie is a graduate of Colorado Christian University. She is licensed to teach Middle School Language Arts and Elementary Education and has taught at both public and private schools over the last fourteen years. Amy is thrilled to begin her seventh year at Providence and is looking forward to sharing her love of literature and language with her students. Amy is also an author and recently finished writing her eighth novel. She enjoys public speaking and blogs regularly on devotional topics. Amy and her husband, Greg, have three grown sons and one sweet granddaughter, Lacey.
