Meet the Grammar School Faculty

Lisa Almond

Lisa Almond

Music

Lisa Almond studied music at Baylor University, concentrating in Music Education and Academic Music Studies.  As a vocalist, Lisa performed with several of the Baylor choirs including the University’s premiere show choir, Showtime!  Lisa also spent many years singing in the worship ensemble at her church.  As one of the founding families of Providence, Lisa and her husband, Brad, have been a part of Providence from the very beginning. They have served the school in a variety of ways during this time, and now Lisa is thrilled to have the opportunity to serve in the classroom.  Lisa has a deep and abiding love of singing and of choral music (especially sacred choral music) that is simultaneously joyful, fun-loving, and reverent.  She hopes to impart all of this to her students as she teaches them to hear, appreciate, and perform beautiful music.  The Almond family is a very musical bunch, and their home is often filled with the sounds of hymn singing or of someone practicing the piano, drums, or guitar.  In her spare time, Lisa can often be found reading a novel by Jane Austen or Dorothy Sayers, or in the kitchen brewing a fresh pot of tea and baking scones. Lisa and Brad have three children, Keylon, Rowan, and Penelope.  The Almond family worships at Grace Bible Church in Killeen.

Angela Bacon

2nd Grade

Angela Bacon, Second Grade teacher, earned a Bachelors Degree in Education from the University of San Angelo. She is married to RJ Bacon, a teacher and football coach, and they have a son, Curtis. Mrs. Bacon taught in a public school and ran an after school program before being blessed to start teaching at Providence. She considers it an honor to work in a school where the Godly education and the love of learning are of high importance. Angela and RJ worship at First Baptist Church of Killeen, where they teach 9th grade Sunday School at First Baptist Killeen.

Sarah Billman

Sarah Billman

Kindergarten

Sarah Billman is married to Bret, and they have two sweet children, Maddox and Olivia. She enjoys cooking, gardening, reading and spending quality time with friends and family. Sarah completed her bachelors degree in Child and Family Development with a minor in Psychology at Stephen F. Austin State University. Her career has centered around children, first as a case manager and foster home developer, then as a teacher (first pre-school then Kindergarten), and most recently as her church's school-age children's ministry coordinator. Mrs. Billman says, "I love teaching Kindergarten because the kids are filled with wonder and amazement as they explore and discover new things about the world around them. Teaching a child to read is a priceless experience and one of the biggest privileges a teacher can have. I'm excited to share the joys of educating these Kindergartners with the people who care most about them...their parents!"

Dianna Fugitt

Dianna Fugitt

First Grade

Dianna Fugitt is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She grew up in Central Texas and has taught Pre-K, 1st and 2nd grades in Killeen ISD and Moody ISD before joining the Providence faculty in 2014.  Dianna is the proud mother of Jack and Catherine who enjoy attending Providence. Her husband, Jesse, served in the Army for 7 years and is currently a member of the Temple Police Department. Dianna and her family worship at First Baptist Church Moody where she serves as Children’s Minister and her husband serves as Deacon. 

Beth Gardner

Beth Gardner, owner of Heart of Texas Gymnastics located in Temple, Texas since 1999 fell in love with the sport of gymnastics as a recreational gymnast from the age of 3 years old. She began teaching PE at Providence in 2016. She has an extensive background specializing in preschool, recreational and special needs gymnastics. Beth has been a national, international and private clinician since 1997. She has served as a National Instructor for USA Gymnastics, presenting at state, regional and national congresses, and served as one of the National Instructors for USA Gymnastics Kinder Accreditation for Teachers (KAT,) USA Gymnastics Movement Development and Lesson Plan Development (MELPD,) and currently serves as a National Instructor for the USA Gymnastics Preschool Fundamentals, Hands-on Training and the USA Gymnastics Hands-on Training for School-Aged courses for preschool and recreational gymnastics, the USA Gymnastics Brain and Body course, and the USA Gymnastics M200 Men’s Course. Her background also includes volunteering and coaching children and adults with special needs within her program as well as through Special Olympics, Discover Fitness Foundation and other private organizations. Her newest passion is for researching ways to address special needs in the gymnastics environment and utilizing gymnastics to affect positive changes for those with disabilities. She has three children, Robert, Daniel and Melissa and she is a 1983 graduate of Texas
A&M University.

Mitch Hedderly

Mitch Hedderly

P.E, Latin

Mitch Hedderly graduated from UT Arlington in 2002 with a Bachelors of Arts in German. Mitch's post-undergraduate work involved some flying of Army helicopters in one of the more dusty parts of the world (Iraq), while his adoring wife, Mandy--also a teacher at Providence--always awaited his returns with tremendous longing. Deciding that the Army life might make family life for them and their two young children a bit too challenging, Mitch left active duty to pursue a career in education. He acquired a Texas general teaching certification for pre-K through 6th, and later certified as a 6th through 12th German teacher. Mitch left a 5th grade teaching position with BISD in 2012 to focus more on their children's homeschooling. He and Mandy are both avid "CrossFitters," and secured CF Level 1 Trainer Certifications in August 2013. It was shortly thereafter that Mitch started at Providence as the P.E. teacher and has since also branched into Latin instruction.

Tasha Heisch

Third Grade

Tasha Heisch is honored to be part of the Providence faculty. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Baylor University, she taught for 4 years before her children were born. After that, she stayed busy by fulfilling her call to educate her children at home. Now she considers it a privilege and a blessing to partner with parents in educating their children through Providence. Tasha is married to her husband, Rory, and they have 3 children. You can usually find them working on their farm, where they raise goats, chickens, and honeybees. They worship at Temple Bible Church.

Margaret Kiesle

Fourth Grade, Latin A

Margaret Kiesle began her teaching career at the age of two when her sister was born! From those nascent experiences she progressed to  “playing school” in her backyard with her siblings and neighbors. Naturally it followed for Margaret to study education at Indiana University, where she obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education. Although Margaret taught in public schools for three years, the delight of her career was home educating her four children through high school. Once her children had graduated, Margaret was eager for new educational opportunities and began teaching Fourth Grade and Latin A during the inaugural year of Providence. Her passion is to introduce, ignite, and inspire students with the magnificence of God as revealed in the awesome gift of language in the Bible, His written Word, and in the person of Jesus Christ, the living Word. Margaret joyfully praises God for creating her to teach and for allowing her to spend her entire life doing what she loves!

Miranda Lehmann

First Grade

Miranda Lehmann holds both Bachelors and Masters degrees in Education from the University of Tennessee, and she is certified in regular and special education. She married her high school sweetheart, Brian, and has been blessed with two amazing children, Eli and Kiley. Miranda taught in a public school for several years before staying home with her children. During this time, she taught at a small church school, led Bible studies, and continued to take college courses. She began teaching First Grade at Providence in 2012, and now also serves as the Grammar School math chair. Miranda has always loved teaching and has a passion for academic excellence.  She considers it a joy and privilege to be educating young children, and finds that there is no greater delight than to see a hunger for learning in an young child.  Miranda’s family worships at Grace Bible Church in Killeen.

Mallory Poe

4th Grade

Mallory Poe is a graduate of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences with a Bachelors of Science in Nuclear Medicine Imaging Sciences. Inspired by a calling to be a teacher, Mallory left healthcare to pursue a career in teaching. She taught math, technology and gifted/talented in public school for a total of seven years before having the privilege of working at Providence. She is married to Paul who owns a MAC Tools franchise and works in Waco. She is thrilled to be joining her three chidren, Addy, Tucker and Brent, who are also attending Providence as students. Mallory is a life long learner and strives to constantly grow and adapt. Above all, she is excited to have the opportunity to explore the greatness of Christ with her students!

Kindergarten

Lesleigh Reynolds and her husband Aaron have three children, Quinn, Holden, and Finley. Lesleigh completed her bachelors degree in Elementary Education at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor.  She taught Pre-K and Kindergarten at Temple ISD for 3 years before joining the Providence faculty in Fall 2013. Her family are members at First Baptist Church Academy, where she teaches Sunday School.  She enjoys fitness and running, as well as cooking, reading, and playing with her kiddos.

Fifth Grade Math and Science

Christy Porterfield is married to her best friend, Russell. They have been blessed with two adventurous boys, Caleb and Joshua. She is a graduate of the University of Mary Hardin Baylor with a BA degree in Elementary Education specializing in reading. She has always had a love for teaching and grew up teaching her brother and sister. She taught in the public school for 4 years. Upon the arrival of her firstborn, she was blessed to at stay home where the Lord gave her an excitement for homeschooling. She loves to come alongside co-teachers and their children and rejoice in watching the Lord grow them in character, their love for learning, and their realization of how the Lord provides for them. She enjoys reading, gardening, and exploring God's beautiful creation with her family.

Jen Riddle

Jen Riddle was born and raised in Beaumont, TX. After graduating from Texas A&M University with a BBA in Marketing, she served as a missionary in Thailand for three years. She is married to her best friend, Jake, who works at The Austin Stone Community Church.

Jen loves being a teacher at Providence where she is able to help students see that Jesus Christ is at the center of all things. Her ambition is aimed at opening the eyes of her students to behold the wonder of Christ through the beauty of art.

When Jen is not teaching, you can find her enjoying calligraphy, watercolor painting, baking, gardening and traveling with her husband and Goldendoodle Murphy.

Courtney Robinson

5th Language Arts and 4th History

Courtney Robinson has a degree in English and Psychology from Texas A&M University as well as a Master's Degree in Christian Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary. She spent nine years homeschooling her own children and five teaching grammar and composition in a local homeschool group before coming to Providence.  She's never met a sentence she didn't want to diagram, and she loves teaching poetry to young people.  She and her husband, Heath, have three sons and a daughter. They love seeing Christ's lordship over all things and worshiping with their brothers and sisters in Christ at Redeemer PCA.

Daena Rowe

Music

Daena Rowe graduated from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in 2008 with a degree in music education. She has taught music in a variety of ways: public and private schools, churches, and private lesson settings. She is excited to be part of Providence, as she enjoys fostering skill and understanding of music in others. Daena lives in Belton with her husband, Daniel, and their two children, Norah and Adam.

Tricia Scott

Kindergarten

Tricia Scott joined the Providence staff as a kindergarten teacher in 2015 after teaching for 27 years in public education. She graduated from the University of Mary – Hardin Baylor with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education and Kindergarten endorsement. Kindergarten students are her favorite because of their newfound excitement of the world and formal schooling! Teaching students to read is a joy and privilege for her. She and her husband Barry have 5 children and enjoy living out in the country, where they garden and take care of their menagerie of farm pets! They also enjoy traveling the country each summer. Tricia and Barry attend Temple Bible Church.

Penny Seiler

Penny Seiler

2nd Grade

Penny Seiler has worked in the field of education for thirty years. After retiring from the Belton School System, she joined the Providence team where she is currently teaching second grade. Penny and her husband Paul have been blessed with two sons, Corey and Taylor. Both are grown and pursuing careers in construction science and law. They also have a beautiful daughter-in- law, Kori, who also works in the field of elementary education. Penny and Paul worship at Temple Bible Church.

Kathryn Smith

Kathryn Smith

Second Grade

Kathryn Smith has taught 2nd Grade at Providence since 2013. She has a passion for children, and she is excited to be at the school.  A graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, Kathryn received a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. God has gifted her with teaching skills that she has used in many ways over the years.  Her teaching experiences include public school, home school, and serving as Children's Minister at a local church. Kathryn is excited about  the opportunity to work alongside parents in supporting them in their role as educator, both academically and spiritually. Kathryn and her husband, Glen, and their three daughters, served as medical missionaries in Kenya, East Africa during the years the children were growing up. Glen and Kathryn worship together at First Baptist Church in Belton.

Tonita Stovall

Tonita Stovall is certified to teach secondary family and consumer sciences, and early childhood education. She has fifteen years experience working in a variety of early childhood development and education occupations, and eleven years experience teaching at a private Christian school prior to joining the faculty at Providence in the fall of 2011. Tonita is married to Daniel Stovall and has three adult children. Her two sons are married, so she has two daughters-in-law. Her family members are active at the Northside Church of Christ where Daniel serves as an elder. Tonita enjoys reading, fitness walking and baking. She considers it an honor and blessing to be teaching PreK at Providence.

Rachel Su

Rachel Su graduated from Texas A&M University with her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Reading. She is from Katy, TX and has experience teaching 2nd and 3rd grades in the Houston area at Spring Branch ISD and KIPP Houston Charter Schools. Rachel is married to Max Su who is pursuing a career in medicine. She is blessed to have had the role of both co-teacher and teacher at Providence since 2014. Rachel is excited and honored to be a part of a school that partners with families in encouraging both the academic and spiritual growth of every student. In her free time, she enjoys running, reading, trying new foods, and spending time with friends and family. Rachel and Max worship at Temple Bible Church.

6th Grade Math

Cindy Blanck earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Central Arkansas in 1993 and a Master’s Degree in Gifted Education from Drury University in 2005. After teaching 16 years in a public school in Missouri, she moved to Texas in 2010 and continued her career as a founding teacher at Providence in 2011. Rebecca Cagle

5th and 6th Grade History and Science

Rebecca Cagle has been married to her best friend Kevin for 25 years. They have two fantastic and fun sons, Luke and Philip. Rebecca graduated from Belton High, and then attended UMHB where she received her Elementary Education degree. She taught Kindergarten at Miller Heights in Belton for 6 years. She resigned from Miller Heights to stay at home with her sons, homeschooling them until they were in the 5th & 6th grades. She enjoys reading, cooking whatever her guys harvest from hunting, and watching her guys’ sporting activities. They worship at Temple Bible Church and she is currently helping in the high school department.

Amy Rognlie

6th Grade Humanities, 6th Grade Latin

Amy Rognlie is a graduate of Colorado Christian University. She is licensed to teach both Middle School Language Arts and Elementary Education, and has taught at both public and private schools over the last twelve years. Amy is thrilled to begin her fifth year at Providence and is looking forward to sharing her love of literature and language (both English and Latin!) with her sixth grade students. Amy is also an author and is currently at work on her seventh novel. Amy and her husband, Greg, have three sons--and one sweet granddaughter, Lacey. The Rognlies live in Academy, where they worship at First Baptist Church of Academy.
