Portrait of Our Graduate

It is our prayer that each graduate of Providence would exemplify the following characteristics:

Awe-inspired

An awe-inspired graduate is amazed at God’s glory as seen in the study of all disciplines. The graduate marvels at order, design, and meaning in Creation.

Biblically-grounded

A biblically-grounded graduate exercises an understanding of biblical truths, and can carry this knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ into his interaction with the culture.

Servant-Hearted

A servant-hearted graduate selflessly helps the members of his family, church, and community.

Humble

A humble graduate pursues excellence in learning with a posture of humility and thankfulness. As a result, the graduate works hard, recognizes his own limitations and appreciates the gifts of others.

Inquisitive

An inquisitive graduate is characterized by a broad and penetrating curiosity. The graduate desires to learn beyond the school curriculum. He is equipped to learn much more for the rest of his life.

Intellectually grounded

An intellectually grounded graduate is engaged with and values the great ideas and thinkers from ancient times to the present. He recognizes that all knowledge is unified and seeks to find connections between apparently unconnected disciplines.

Logical

A logical graduate reasons clearly, evaluates critically, and perseveres in problem solving.

Virtuous

By the grace of God, a virtuous graduate pursues biblical virtues of wisdom, courage, justice, self-control, faith, hope, and love.

Eloquent

An eloquent graduate communicates with depth, precision, and grace.

Discerning

The discerning graduate values that which has lasting truth, goodness, and beauty. The graduate pursues poetic and artistic knowledge, discerning that not all knowledge is scientific or factual.

Honorable

The honorable graduate is characterized by integrity and guided by a sense of doing what is right. He shows courtesy to others. He honors his parents, his primary teachers, and values people of all ages, ethnicities, and abilities as image-bearers of God.

Colossians 1:9-14
For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives,so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
